General Information:

Each Pace Weight weighs one-half pound.Measuring 2-1/2” by 1-3/8” by 3/4”, each Pace Weight weighs one-half pound and fits in the palm of your hand. At one-half pound each, Pace Weights are perfect fractional weights of conventional barbell, dumbbell, Pace Weights, fine-tuning weights that work with weight training equipment.and weight machine weight plates and greatly increase their utility. But Pace Weights are more than just fractional add-on weights. Pace Weights are versatile fine-tuning weights that work with different types of weight training equipment with the ease and convenience of magnetic attachment.

As you can see here, Pace Weights are held firmly in place by strong permanent magnets capable of holding well over twenty times the weight of the Pace Weight, so they’re more than capable of holding their own weight when properly attached to a suitable metal surface.

Pace Weights are easy to use.Yet Pace Weights are easy to use. To remove a Pace Weight, just tilt it up on one side (or one end) before the other, and then remove. Set it down the same way. Individual Pace Weights are specially tapered to make them easy to grasp and hold, even when your hands are moist with perspiration.

Pace Weights are designed to be used in combinations, so you simply use the number of Pace Weights you need for the amount of weight you wish to add. At one-half pound each, Pace Weights are perfect fractions of standard weight increments, so you can quickly and easily fine-tune yourPace Weights let you easily fine-tune your exercise resistance. exercise resistance in any combination of half-pound increments and use the Paced Weight Training technique for all your exercises.

Pace Weights can turn one dumbbell set into many, reducing the number of dumbbell sets you need to own. They can even be stacked together and used as light dumbbells by themselves. Utility, versatility, and ease-of-use are hallmarks of Pace Weight products.

Which Pace Weight Product Should I Buy?

The Pace Weight product that will best serve your needs depends on the types of metal weight training equipment you use. If you use pin-selection weight machines equipped with 10-pound plates, you should consider the 18 piece Pace Weight set (See What To Look For In A Weight Machine). The same is true if you use fixed-weight dumbbells graduated in 5-pound increments, since they require 9 Pace Weights per dumbbell for maximum utility (See Pre-Shaped Dumbbells). If you use only conventional free weights, on the other hand, you only need a total of 9 Pace Weights.

The 18 piece Pace Weight set is the most versatile, because it works with all types of metal weight training equipment, including pin-selection weight machines and 5-pound increment dumbbells. The 18 Pace Weights increase the utility of 10-pound increment weight machines by nineteen times and 5-pound increment dumbbells by ten times. The 18 Pace Weights are more than enough for conventional free weights.

The 9 piece Pace Weight set is perfect if you use only conventional free weights, consisting of barbells, 2.5-pound increment dumbbells, and weight machines that use free weight plates for resistance. The 9 Pace Weights increase the utility of 5-pound increment barbells by ten times and 2.5-pound increment dumbbells by five times.

If you do not need a protective case (See Why Buy A Carrying Case), you can purchase the number of Pace Weights you need individually or in boxes of nine.

By purchasing the Pace Weight product that best serves the types of equipment you use, you will be able to quickly and easily fine-tune your exercise resistance in any combination of half-pound increments and use the Paced Weight Training technique for all your weight training exercises.

Why Buy A Carrying Case:

Pace Weights Carrying Case

A special carrying case keeps your Pace Weights together and well organized for use during your workouts and provides a convenient way to carry them to and from the gym. In addition, Pace Weight carrying cases are specially designed to protect your Pace Weights from sharp impact when not in use, thus preserving their magnetic strength. (See Avoiding Sharp Impact.)

Avoiding Sharp Impact:

Used as directed, Pace Weights will retain their magnetic strength indefinitely. But all permanent magnets, regardless of material, are sensitive to sharp impact. Sharp impact has the effect of reducing a magnet’s strength. This is the reason all magnets and products containing magnets should always be set down gently and never dropped or slammed against a hard surface.

The need to protect magnets from sharp impact is a good reason to purchase a Pace Weight carrying case. In addition to their utility, Pace Weight carrying cases are designed to protect your Pace Weights from sharp impact when not in use. (See Why Buy A Carrying Case.)

Pre-Shaped Dumbbells:

Pace Weights securely attach to Hex shaped dumbbells. Some dumbbells, instead of using changeable plates, are manufactured in fixed sizes and shapes. If you prefer this type of dumbbell, hex shaped dumbbells are an ideal choice, because they provide good flat surfaces to which Pace Weights can be securely attached.

Round or oval shapes provide less contact area between the magnets and the weights, which can reduce the strength of magnetic attachment and allow the Pace Weights to slide around on the surface of the weights. Some round or oval shaped dumbbells work well with Pace Weights, but others might not. Do not use weights with Pace Weights if the magnetic attachment is weak. (See also Rubber Or Plastic Cased Weights.)

Pre-shaped dumbbells, except for very small ones, are typically graduated in 5-pound increments. If you use this type of dumbbell, you might want to consider the 18 piece Pace Weight set, so you can quickly and easily adjust the weight of both dumbbells in any combination of half-pound increments.

Metal Alloy Weights:

Some weights are made by mixing iron with cheaper materials, and this can reduce the strength of magnetic attachment. If you are shopping for a set of weights, it is best to carry a Pace Weight with you to test the weights for magnetic attachment before you buy.

Rubber Or Plastic Cased Weights:

Pace Weights were designed for use with iron weights having flat surfaces to which the magnets can be securely attached. If you are thinking of purchasing a set of weights, iron weights are your best choice. Carry a Pace Weight with you to test the weights before you buy.

Pace Weights can be safely used with some rubber or plastic cased weights, but not others. The deciding factor is whether the magnetic attachment is strong enough to prevent the Pace Weights from slipping or falling off, and this will depend on the iron content of the cased weights, the thickness of the rubber or plastic casing, and the surface shape of the weights. (Surfaces must be sufficiently flat to provide adequate contact between the magnets and the weights.)

If you already own a set of rubber or plastic cased weights, you will need to test them before using them with Pace Weights. Do not use the weights with Pace Weights if the magnetic attachment is weak. In the case of barbells or dumbbells that do not work, the simplest and most economical solution is to simply replace them with iron weights and sell or trade the cased weights to someone else.

Rubber or plastic cased weights might look nice, but remember that weights are tools, not ornaments. It is not their purpose to look nice, but to make you look nice from using them. It is their utility, and not their appearance, that counts.

Weight Machines With Plastic Guide Plates:

If you have a pin-selection weight machine equipped with a plastic guide plate, you will need to attach a piece of sheet metal to the top of the machine’s guide plate in order to provide the magnets with a ferrous metal surface for attachment. Any local machine shop in your area should be able to make this for you at little cost. Be sure to tell the machinists what it is for, so they will use a material to which the magnets will securely attach.

What To Look For In A Weight Machine:

Pace Weights work well with weight machines.

Not all pin-selection weight machines are suitable for use with Pace Weights. If you are considering the purchase of a pin-selection weight machine, make sure the machine you buy provides easy access to the machine’s guide plate, that the guide plate provides a flat metal surface large enough to attach the Pace Weights, and that the Pace Weights will not interfere with the machine’s operation. Carry a Pace Weight with you to test the machine before you buy.

If you already own a weight machine that does not work with Pace Weights, check with a local machine shop in your area. The machinists might be able to modify your machine at reasonable cost to make it work. (See also Weight Machines With Plastic Guide Plates.)

Thinking Of Joining A Club?

If you are thinking of joining a club, inspect the club’s equipment before you sign up to be sure the equipment you intend to use with Pace Weights will work. Carry a Pace Weight with you to test the equipment when you inspect it, and choose a club whose equipment meets your needs. (See Pre-Shaped Dumbbells, Rubber Or Plastic Cased Weights, and What To Look For In A Weight Machine.)

Precautions When Using Magnets:

Pace Weights contain strong magnets. Magnets can erase magnetic storage devices, such as VCR tapes, and cause metal parts to become magnetized. Keep them a safe distance from devices that might be sensitive to magnetic fields.

If you have a pacemaker or other medical device that could be sensitive to magnetic fields, discuss Pace Weights with your physician before using them, and follow your physician’s instructions.

Pace Weights are not indestructible. Magnets can be weakened, damaged, or dislodged by sharp impact. Never drop or slam them against a hard surface. Sharp impact has the effect of reducing the strength of any permanent magnet. (See Avoiding Sharp Impact.)
